Atul Gawande

Atul Gawande is a practising general and endocrine surgeon and a staff writer at The New Yorker. He served as Assistant Administrator for Global Health at USAID (2021–2023) and has authored four books examining how medicine, systems design, and human behaviour intersect. He is best known for 'The Checklist Manifesto' (2009), which argues that structured checklists cut failure rates across high-stakes fields.
