César Augusto Hidalgo Ramaciotti is a Chilean born, Chilean-Spanish-American physicist, author, and entrepreneur. He is a tenured professor at the department of social and behavioral sciences at the Toulouse School of Economics and director of the Center for Collective Learning, a multidisciplinary research laboratory with offices at the Toulouse School of Economics and at Corvinus University of Budapest. He is also an Honorary Professor at the University of Manchester's Alliance Manchester Business School. Hidalgo is known for pioneering the field of economic complexity by developing concepts and methods such as relatedness and the Economic Complexity Index. He is also known for the creation of public data infrastructure, as a co-creator of The Observatory of Economic Complexity, as well as several national scale economic data visualization platforms including Data USA, Data Mexico, and Data Saudi. Hidalgo works also on applied artificial intelligence and digital democracy.
