CAP theorem framework

Eric Brewer is a professor of computer science at UC Berkeley and has served as VP of Infrastructure at Google. He proposed the CAP theorem in a 2000 keynote, later formalised by Gilbert and Lynch, which became a foundational framework for reasoning about trade-offs in distributed database design. His work directly shaped architectural decisions behind NoSQL systems and large-scale web infrastructure.
