Gary Becker (1930–2014) was a professor at the University of Chicago and a central figure of the Chicago School. He won the 1992 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences for demonstrating that rational-choice models illuminate behaviour well beyond markets. His landmark works include 'Human Capital' (1964) and 'The Economics of Discrimination' (1957).
