Mahbub ul Haq
Human Development Index architect.
Pakistani economist and former Finance Minister of Pakistan who later served as Special Adviser to the UNDP Administrator. He created the HDI in 1990 alongside Amartya Sen, combining income, education, and life-expectancy data into a single measure of human welfare. The HDI reshaped how governments and international bodies define and track development.
