Pierre Lassonde

Franco-Nevada; royalty/streaming model as capital allocation

Pierre Lassonde co-founded Franco-Nevada Mining Corporation and served as president of Newmont Mining after its acquisition of Franco-Nevada. He is credited with originating the gold royalty business model, whereby a financing company receives a perpetual revenue stream from mine production rather than owning operating assets. That structure became the template for the broader royalty and streaming sector.
