Richard Nelson
Evolutionary Theory of Economic Change
Richard R. Nelson is professor emeritus of international and public affairs at Columbia University. He co-authored 'An Evolutionary Theory of Economic Change' (1982) with Sidney Winter, a foundational text arguing that firms compete through routines that vary and are selected by markets rather than through rational optimisation. The work underpins dynamic-capabilities research in strategy.
