The Girl Internet Architecture is a platform-design framework drawn from communities (Archive of Our Own, Sunroom, Diem, GenZ Girl Gang) that have built thriving alternatives to hostile mainstream social platforms. The core insight is that the dominant social platforms were built by founders who optimized for ad revenue and engagement — and the resulting hate-for-profit business models forced users to absorb harassment as the price of public participation. The framework inverts that stack. Instead of treating safety, privacy, and creator economics as moderation problems patched on later, you design them in as architectural primitives from day one. Five principles anchor the architecture: safety-by-design (filters, blocklists, friend-mediated moderation as defaults, not toggles), ownership and economic alignment (creators and contributors get paid or rewarded for the value they generate — Sunroom monetizing creators, Diem rewarding conversations with gems), governance accountable to users (Archive of Our Own's elected volunteer board, not a founder-controlled cap table), context-aware moderation (a women's lens, anonymous reproductive-health search — judgment built by people who use the product), and migration-readiness (assume incumbents are temporary; users move from TikTok to RedNote, Twitter to Bluesky, when trust breaks). How this framework came to be

Deja Foxx went viral at 16 confronting a US senator on birth-control funding, then faced a 2021 cyber-mob with 60K likes of harassment. Her friend Maya asked for her passwords and deleted hateful DMs before Foxx saw them — a peer-built survival layer mainstream platforms refused to provide. Foxx generalized that pattern from Archive of Our Own, Sunroom, and Diem into the girl internet.
