Bernard Bass
Transformational Leadership scale (MLQ)
Bernard Bass (1925–2007) was a professor at Binghamton University, State University of New York. He built on James MacGregor Burns's political concept of transformational leadership to produce an empirically testable behavioural model, and operationalised it through the MLQ instrument. His Full Range Leadership Model, distinguishing transformational, transactional, and laissez-faire styles, became one of the most-cited frameworks in organisational behaviour research.
