Daniel Dennett
Intuition Pumps; thinking-tools taxonomist.
Dennett was Professor of Philosophy and co-director of the Center for Cognitive Studies at Tufts University until his death in 2024. Over five decades he argued that consciousness and free will are explicable through evolutionary and computational processes, challenging dualist intuitions. His 2013 book 'Intuition Pumps and Other Tools for Thinking' catalogued dozens of reusable mental devices for navigating complex problems.
