Douglas McGregor
Theory X / Theory Y
Douglas McGregor (1906–1964) was a social psychologist and professor at MIT's Sloan School of Management. His 1960 book 'The Human Side of Enterprise' introduced Theory X (workers are inherently passive and must be controlled) and Theory Y (workers are self-directed when conditions allow), reshaping how managers think about motivation and organisational design.
