Gerald Salancik
Resource Dependence Theory
Salancik was a professor of organisational behaviour, most recently at Carnegie Mellon University's Graduate School of Industrial Administration. He co-authored 'The External Control of Organizations: A Resource Dependence Perspective' (1978) with Jeffrey Pfeffer, a cornerstone text in management theory. The book contends that organisations survive by managing dependencies on external actors who control critical resources.
