TSMC: pure-play foundry category creation

Morris Chang founded Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company in 1987 and served as its chairman and CEO until 2018. His core strategic insight was that a manufacturer could profitably serve fabless chip designers without competing with them, a model that enabled companies like Apple, Nvidia, and AMD to exist without owning fabs. TSMC became the world's dominant contract chipmaker under his leadership.
