Drew Westen
political-brain motivated reasoning.
Drew Westen is a professor of psychology at Emory University and founder of Westen Strategies, a political messaging consultancy. His empirical work uses neuroimaging to show that voters rationalise partisan conclusions rather than reason towards them. He set out this thesis in his 2007 book 'The Political Brain', which became a touchstone for progressive political communication strategy.
