Tim Wilson
affective forecasting; Strangers to Ourselves.
Professor of psychology at the University of Virginia, where he has taught for decades. His research on affective forecasting — how poorly people predict their own future emotional states — is foundational in behavioural science, developed alongside Daniel Gilbert. He is also the author of 'Strangers to Ourselves' (2002), which argues that much of mental life occurs outside conscious awareness.
